Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Community Life supports the Director in fostering a vibrant, inclusive culture across ClarkLindsey’s continuum of care. This role serves as the primary leader for Independent Living engagement while providing cross-campus leadership in program standards, signature experiences, mentorship, and community partnerships.
This position elevates resident engagement beyond activities to purpose, connection, and whole-person wellness, directly advancing ClarkLindsey’s mission to help older adults live their best lives.
Key Responsibilities
Independent Living Leadership
• Plan and implement Independent Living programs that include physical, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual wellness.
• Facilitate resident councils and committees; translate feedback into actionable programming.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with residents and families to promote engagement and resolve concerns.
• Oversee Independent Living calendars, newsletters, and TV channel communications.
• Plan and execute outings, lifelong learning series, special events, and other opportunities requiring complex planning and coordination.
• Collect and elevate resident stories in collaboration with the Marketing team
Cross-Campus Leadership
• Partner with engagement teams across levels of care to align programming standards, calendars, and themes.
• Identify gaps or redundancies in programming and provide recommendations for improvement to the Director.
• Co-lead campus-wide events, holidays celebrations, and signature experiences.
• Mentor engagement staff, interns, and volunteers in best practices and resident-centered programming.
Community Partnerships
• Cultivate partnerships with organizations such as schools, churches, cultural organizations, and performers.
• Expand intergenerational, educational, and creative opportunities.
• Serve as the primary contact for Independent Living community partnerships.
Operational Support
• Assist with department communication, onboarding, program reviews, and policy development.
• Serve as department lead in the Director’s absence. Provide coordinator support when needed.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in recreation therapy, gerontology, social work, education, hospitality, or related field preferred.
· 3–5+ years of experience in senior living engagement or related field.
· Demonstrated leadership experience (formal or informal).
· Strong program design and facilitation skills.
· Demonstrated leadership in storytelling, relationship building, and community partnership stewardship.
· Exceptional relational intelligence – knows how to see, hear, and understand people.
· Creative, resourceful, warm, articulate, and inspiring.
· Strong organization, prioritization, and follow through skills.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively across levels of care.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or program management tools.
· Experience in journalism, PR, communications, or marketing is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
· The pay range for this salaried position is $60,000 - $72,500. Company-wide bonuses equaling up to 2% of salary are available based on performance, generally in the spring and fall each year.
