METCAD is a consolidated dispatch center which was established in June of 1979 with 9 Telecommunicators and an Administrative staff of two. Today, METCAD answers emergency 9-1-1 calls for all of Champaign County. With over 30 employees, METCAD provides direct dispatch service for all law enforcement and fire agencies through-out Champaign County.
Our Telecommunicators serve as essential personnel, providing emergency and non-emergency telephone and text assistance for Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) by quickly and accurately collecting and documenting critical information from callers in high-stress situations into the dispatch system.

Minimum Qualifications:
• U. S. Citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States (must meet I-9 requirements)
• Valid Driver's License
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
• Ability to solve problems and provide excellent customer service in stressful situations.
• Ability to acquire mandated certifications (i.e. Law Enforcement Agency Data Systems, Emergency Medical Dispatch, National Incident Management Systems) during the training phase.
• Experience with dispatching, customer service, and computer use are preferred.
