The City of Champaign Human Resource Department is looking to expand our recruiting and staffing team. We are seeking a motivated and service-minded Human Resources Specialist for Recruiting and Staffing who will bring a passion for connecting the dots between people and opportunities.
Responsibilities of Position
As the Human Resources Specialist for Recruiting and Staffing, you will partner with hiring managers in all 12 City Departments to develop and implement full cycle recruitments supporting more than 300 professional staff across the organization. You will serve as a trusted advisor, ensuring fair, transparent, and compliant hiring strategies by crafting effective advertising plans, interview questions, and assessment tools.
This position will require you to develop and maintain effective relationships with and provide the highest level of customer service to both employees and candidates. In addition, you will also leverage technology, such as applicant tracking systems and human resources information systems, to enhance the recruitment process, ensure accurate recordkeeping, and track, analyze, and share data related to recruiting and staffing. Beyond recruitment, you will contribute to the development and upkeep of job descriptions and support a wide range of innovative HR projects and initiatives.
Required Qualifications
• A bachelor’s degree or higher in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field
• Experience with recruitment, staffing, or other recruitment environment
• An equivalent combination of work experience and training that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered
• Strong customer service orientationPreferred Qualifications
• PHR, SHRM, PSHRA or other related human resources certification
• Previous experience with applicant tracking software (ATS) or Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
• Professional work experience in a public or municipal agencyDrug screening, and criminal background check will be required. The annual starting salary range is $76,312 - $86,874, DOQ, plus an excellent fringe benefits package.
