Responsibilities of Position
The Community Relations Specialist is at the forefront of implementing programs that support the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Division. The Specialist assists with the intake of discrimination complaints, assists with the review of affirmative action reports to comply with the City’s equal opportunity in purchasing ordinance (EOPO), leads projects related to the City’s welcoming certification for immigrant communities, and leads projects related to designated days highlighting diverse communities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: coordination of project activities, giving presentations, creating print and electronic informational materials, updating websites, customer service, and monitoring/reporting progress toward achievement of program goals and objectives.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, social work, human services, psychology, or a related field.
• An equivalent combination of work experience and education that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
• Report writing experience.
• Data collection, review, and analysis experience.
• Current valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Ability to work flexible hours to attend evening and weekend meetings and activities as needed.Preferred Qualifications
• Grant and/or project management experience, particularly related to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Division activities.
• Experience giving presentations.
• Experience coordinating work activities with individuals from multiple agencies.
• Experience with presentation, publishing, and website content management applications, such as PowerPoint, Publisher, or WordPress.
• Proficient in Spanish or French listening and speaking.Drug screening and criminal background check will be required. The annual starting salary range is $73,554 - $83,734, DOQ, plus an excellent fringe benefits package. Applications must be submitted online no later than Sunday, May 4, 2025.
