General Summary of Duties
Christie Clinic's department of Endocrinology is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant/Receptionist at the Windsor clinic in Champaign from Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, with no night or weekend requirements.
Duties include greeting clinic patients upon arrival, assisting with the check in process, answering incoming phone calls, scheduling appointments, and assisting with the checkout or rescheduling process. They will serve as a liaison between patients and medical support staff. Duties will also include performance of skills through the delivery of patient care using a systematic patient assessment.
Job Qualifications and Expectations
JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all the duties assigned.)
- Greet patients and visitors in an efficient, professional and courteous manner and solicit customer feedback to improve service.
- Demonstrate the ability to promptly answer a high volume of phone calls and schedule patient appointments with providers.
- Provide check-out process for patients.
- Verify and update necessary demographic information.
- Maintain provider schedules.
- Keep a neat and orderly work and lobby area.
- Prepare exam rooms prior to appointment. Clean and restock following appointment.
- Assist patients to exam room, take vitals, weight and height of patient. Enter information into the electronic medical record.
- Obtain blood sugar as needed and download CGM meters
- Maintain and update patient medical record upon visit including allergies, medications, etc. and enter into the electronic medical record.
- Flag appropriate room for provider to see patient.
- Perform related work as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous health care experience
- Certified Nurse Assistant Certificate and/or graduation from an accredited program for medical assistants
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:
- CPR Certification
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 75 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a clinical setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids and other waste common to a health care environment.
PAY AND BENEFITS:
The estimated pay range for this position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related criteria.
