Overview
General Summary of Duties
Christie Clinic's department of Convenient Care is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant on a rotating schedule, 3 days a week with availability from Sunday-Saturday 8:00am-8:00pm, including weekends and holidays on rotation.
The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant must provide general care, diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventative medicine in a medical facility, under the supervision of a Physician.
Job Qualifications and Expectations
JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
- Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients. Review patient records.
- Order, interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.
- Perform a complete and/or focused physical exam and record findings. Establish presumptive diagnosis if needed.
- Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Synthesize data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.
- Administer injections, immunizations and/or oral medications. Suture wounds. Prepare written prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances.
- Interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs.
- Instruct patient and family regarding medication and treatment instructions. Provide patient education.
- Assist physician by recording patient progress notes, issuing diagnostic orders and transcribing orders.
- Triage patient telephone calls and provide consultation.
- Perform independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
- Perform related work as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a health care related field
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- Successful completion of a post basic advanced practice formal education program
- Successful completion of all other requirements to practice as a nurse practitioner
- Evidence of annual completion of health related courses and/or seminars with a certificate or CEU’s
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:
- Current Illinois state Advanced Practice Nurse Certified Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant license
- Current Illinois Advanced Practice Nurse Controlled Substance license
- CPR Certification
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 75 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a medical office setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids and other waste common to a health care environment. Ionizing radiation and medicinal preparations are also common. Requirements include working weekends, evenings, holidays, etc. as associated with working in Convenient Care.
PAY AND BENEFITS:
The estimated pay range for this position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related criteria.
