General Summary of Duties

Christie Clinic's department of Interventional Pain Management is seeking a full-time RN Procedural/Administrative Coordinator at the Fields clinic from Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.

Duties include the provision of professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices and supervision of departmental clinical operations and team members.

Job Qualifications and Expectations

JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)

  • Administer patient care orders in accordance with nursing scope and standards and as directed by provider.
  • Prepare equipment and assist provider during treatment, examination and/or testing of the patient.
  • Observe, record, and report patient’s condition and reaction to medication and/or treatment to provider.
  • Instruct patients and caregivers regarding medication, treatment instructions, and patient education. Give patients pre and postoperative instructions.
  • Demonstrate the ability to respond to triage calls using nursing assessment.
  • Assist provider in pre-operative, operative, and post operative procedures.
  • Monitor recovering and/or sedated patients.
  • Initiate and maintain peripheral intravenous lines.
  • Administer parenteral and oral medications, as ordered.
  • Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythm, and patient symptoms throughout testing
  • Preoperative Chart Review including lab work.
  • Give medical advice to patients over the telephone.
  • Complete FMLA and disability paperwork for patients.
  • Initiate emergency response and ACLS protocols as needed
  • Maintain readiness of emergency equipment and medications
  • Accurately document assessments, procedures, medications, and outcomes in the medical record
  • Communicate abnormal findings or patient concerns promptly to the appropriate provider
  • Support efficient patient throughput while maintaining safety and quality standards
  • Assist with developing and maturing the utilization of Christie Leadership System.
  • Monitor processes within the department for quality, regulatory, and performance initiatives.
  • Effectively and professionally communicate with patients, team members, providers, and visitors.
  • Participate in team member performance evaluation, coaching, disciplinary action, and conflict resolution activities, as needed.
  • Assist the Clinical Manager with annual goal and budget development and maintenance.
  • Act as a liaison between varying levels of leadership and department team members.
  • Conduct new team member interviews and oversee the onboarding of new team members.
  • Participate in new provider interviews and assist with new provider onboarding.
  • Address and assist with the resolution of customer service and billing concerns.
  • With the department chair, assist with maintenance of the department provider call schedule.
  • Develop and maintain department policies, protocol, and procedures, in collaboration with the Department Chair when appropriate.
  • Oversee all operational functions of the office practice.
  • Maintain oversight of provider patient care schedules.
  • Maintain CLIA compliance, as needed.
  • Oversee the maintenance of supplies and equipment required for operations.
  • Schedule office visits, procedures, and surgeries at both in-office and external facilities.
  • Maintain department resources/information regarding prior authorization requirements.
  • Obtain prior authorization for services which require one.
  • Coordinate patient care with internal and external facilities.
  • Ensure a positive patient experience in a fast-paced outpatient environment
  • Perform related work as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Evidence of annual completion of health related courses and/or seminars with a certificate and/or CEU’s

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional nursing experience

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:

  • Possession of an Illinois State Registered Nurse License
  • BLS Certification
  • ACLS Certification

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 50 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a clinical setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids and other waste common to a health care environment. Ionizing radiation and medicinal preparations are also common. Requirements may include working irregular hours.

The estimated pay range for this position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related criteria.
