General Summary of Duties

Christie Clinic's department of Information Systems is seeking a full-time System Administrator Advanced at the University clinic from Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm. This position may require the ability to travel to other locations, as needed, to support the department.

Under the supervision of the Information Systems Manager, the primary duties include the maintenance and support of User Administration, Folder and Group Management, Active Directory Object Management, and Vendor Software Management including the inventory and documentation of these programs, as well as monitoring and support of interfaces with systems related to EMR support. Additional duties include the installation and support of the Christie Clinic Data Centers, Local Network, Wide Area Network, Storage Network and Mobile Network systems including servers, workstations, printers, communications equipment, etc., in conjunction with the NOC MSP under contract. Also, troubleshooting hardware and software problems, monitoring systems for optimum performance and coordinating release upgrades and fixes from vendors are also included. This position is responsible for obtaining, assessing, analyzing, and presenting a wide array of data from a variety of IS sources on topics of interest. Other duties include scheduling implementation of new modules including installation, testing and training existing employees in their use.

  • Monitor system utilization, anticipate hardware/software upgrades and enhancements to obtain maximum operation and performance.
  • Ensure proper system backup and recovery procedures are implemented and followed.
  • Document interface changes/modifications and forward reasonable requests to vendor.
  • Work with HI and IS Manager to escalate vendor and interface issues for support and resolution.
  • Communicate with the other team members to ensure application functionality and continuity in workflow requirements; ensure needs are addressed and met.
  • Analyze complex client and technical problems requiring diagnosis, testing, and judgment.
  • Identify, understand, and manage key technical issues.
  • Work closely with lead developers, systems analysts, database administrators, network administrators and other members of the wider team to deliver the design and implementation of software components and subsystem applications.
  • Participate actively in vendor user group interactions working toward recommendations for system modifications and enhancements.
  • Work collaboratively with HI and IS Manager to ensure new or redesigned build is tested prior to launching into production.
  • Support end-users (front line and help desk staff) with hardware, software and connectivity questions and issues to determine if problem is IT or EMR specific and provide assistance as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of all computer applications software and assist with Active Directory, user creation and system administration work as needed.

  • In conjunction with the NOC MSP, install server and network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS, server virtualization).
  • Provide level 2 support to Technical Analysts to resolve issues.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the computer operations to ensure proper system backup and recovery procedures are in place and adhered to.
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
  • Perform as needed research and testing on new technology products and systems.
  • Trouble-shoot all network, hardware and software problems and report them to the appropriate person.
  • Perform related work as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience
  • Associate's Degree in an applicable field or equivalent years’ experience with networks
  • Previous work experience required to verify attendance, ability to work independently, and communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable field

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:

  • Current driver’s license with appropriate insurance coverage.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stretching, stooping and lifting up to 50 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a normal office setting and may require working irregular hours.

The estimated pay range for this position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related criteria.
