Overview
General Summary of Duties
Christie Clinic's department of Pulmonary Medicine is seeking a PRN (as needed) Respiratory Therapist at the University clinic with varied hours from Monday-Friday 9:00am-4:00pm. with no night or weekend requirements. This position will require the ability to travel to Bloomington, as needed, to support the department.
Duties include the delivery of respiratory care therapeutic treatments to patients who have breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders. Other duties include evaluating patients by performing diagnostic tests and conducting limited physical examinations.
Job Qualifications and Expectations
JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
- Complete Pulmonary Function Testing, perform quality control and cleaning of PFT equipment, send out PFT results, perform maintenance of PFT equipment and educate staff members regarding PFT.
- Train and educate staff regarding spirometry testing, DHS and Pulmonary Rehabilitation studies.
- Take vitals of patient when needed.
- Educate patients regarding inhalers, medications, other instructions and demonstrations.
- Send out DNKA and cancellation cards.
- Schedule patient appointments, outside facility appointments, Pulmonary Rehab and return appointments. Make recommendations for follow up appointments.
- Monitor pressurized tanks and change outs.
- Take inventory, stock and order supplies, as needed. Clean equipment, as needed.
- Perform MSR processing and coding and send to billers and/or coders.
- Test process tracking of where the test is at for interpretation for the electronic medical record.
- Maintain warranties and updates on all equipment.
- Call in prescription medications, as needed.
- Review labs and x-ray films.
- Perform related work as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from an accredited RT program
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience as a Certified Respiratory Therapist
- RRT, RPFT preferred or to be acquired by 3 years of service
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:
- CRT License
- CPFT License (within one year of service)
- Illinois State License to practice Respiratory Care
- CPR Certification
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 50 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a clinical setting with possible exposure to communicable illnesses, toxic substances and bodily fluids. Requirements may include working irregular hours.
PAY AND BENEFITS:
The estimated pay range for this position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related criteria. We also offer vacation pay as well as a 401k plan.
