General Summary of Duties

Christie Clinic's department of Internal Medicine is seeking a full-time LPN/Administrative Coordinator or RN/Administrative Coordinator (Sign-On Bonus Available) at the Windsor clinic from Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, with no night or weekend requirement. This position will allow for an occassional remote schedule following on-site training and successfully completing the requirements set by the department.

Duties include the performance of supervisory duties over the Internal Medicine department and acting as a liaison between department staff, patients and providers.

Job Qualifications and Expectations

JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)

  • Update any changes to the provider call schedule.

  • Interview prospective staff members. Oversee the training of new staff members.

  • Perform conflict control throughout the department.

  • Conduct monthly staff meetings.

  • Attend coordinator meetings and weekly division huddles as required. Following meetings, inform employees on any new information pertinent to their position.

  • Work with the Manager to maintain the huddle board.

  • Work with the Manager to create and maintain budget.

  • Time clock management including time off requests

  • Cover team lead duties in their absence.

  • Conduct job evaluations and ensure that employees are up to date on department policies and procedures.

  • Appease patient complaints.

  • Locate missing charges or delegate appropriately.

  • Bill charge reviews.

  • Prevent distractions within the department and keep employees on task.

  • Oversee all operational functions of the office practice.

  • Perform related work as required.

  • Assist in the integration of new team members to the department.

  • Interact with other department coordinators to improve processes.

  • Monitor processes within the department for quality (i.e. electronic medical record documentation).

  • Administer prescribed medications, treatments and injections in accordance with nursing standards and as directed by provider.

  • Instruct patients regarding the collection of samples and tests.

  • Arrange for patient testing.

  • Prepare equipment and aid provider during treatment, examination and/or testing of the patient.

  • Observe, record and report patient’s condition and reaction to medication and/or treatment to provider.

  • Act as a liaison between the patient and provider regarding complaints, concerns, etc.

  • Instruct patient and family regarding medication, treatment instructions and patient education.

  • Demonstrate the ability to respond to triage calls using nursing assessment to ensure patients with emergency situations are given priority, and documenting appropriately.

  • Oversee patient scheduling to ensure patients in emergency situations are given priority.

  • Send prescription refills in accordance with nursing standards and as directed by provider.

  • Obtain prior authorizations for medications, testing, procedures, equipment, etc.

  • Maintain work list from provider and follow up on labs, tests, reports, etc.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Supervisory and training experience

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing

  • Evidence of annual completion of health-related courses and/or seminars with a certificate and/or CEU’s

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional nursing experience

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:

  • Valid state license to practice nursing

  • CPR Certification

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 75 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a medical office setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids and other waste common to a health care environment. Requirements may include working irregular hours.
