Overview
General Summary of Duties
Christie Clinic's department of Family Medicine in Champaign on Windsor is seeking a full-time Patient Service Representative from Monday-Friday 7:00am-4:00pm or 8:00am-5:00pm, with no night or weekend requirements.
Duties include acting as a liaison between patients and medical staff. Other duties include greeting patients, scheduling and rescheduling appointments, answering phones and ensuring that all patient matters are taken care of prior to seeing the provider.
Job Qualifications and Expectations

Greet patients and visitors in an efficient, professional and courteous manner and solicit customer feedback to improve service.

Demonstrate the ability to promptly answer a high volume of phone calls and schedule patient appointments with providers.

Provide check in process for patients.

Verify and update necessary demographic information.

Maintain provider schedules.

Keep a neat and orderly work and lobby area.

Maintain relevant office supplies for department effectiveness.

Distribute mail to appropriate staff members.

Schedule referral visits, tests, labs and appointments, as requested.

Ensure patient completes all paperwork pertaining to the office visit including insurance information, etc. prior to patient seeing provider.

Post any payments including co-payments, payments toward account balances, collections, etc.

Change financial class for charges on a patient’s account that need filed to update insurance.

Maintain and balance payment drawer at end of day including cash, checks and charges.

Enter adult history forms into the electronic medical record.

Fax signed documents and maintain file system for Radiology, Physical Therapy and Cardiology orders, mail order prescriptions, routers from office visits and any other faxed papers.

Prepare patient charts for patient check in for office visits, labs, etc.

Stamp any papers, results, medical records, etc. and send to HIS to be scanned.

Obtain signatures on corresponding forms and document any other material received or requested into the electronic medical record.

Assist patient to exam room, clean exam room after appointment and help to restock room with supplies if also MOA.

Perform related work as required.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 25 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a medical office setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids and other waste common to a health care environment. Requirements may include working irregular hours.

The estimated pay range for this position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related criteria.
