General Summary of Duties
Christie Clinic's department of Accounting is seeking a full-time Payroll Accountant at The Leadership Center in Champaign from Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, with no night or weekend requirements.
Duties include checking time sheets and payroll data to ensure correct payment of employees, processes payroll, update general ledger accounting information and file appropriate payroll tax returns.
Job Qualifications and Expectations
JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)

Check time sheets or time clock information for consistency and accuracy, clarifying inconsistencies with supervisors.

Calculate overtime, differential and other special adjustments and rates for records.

Calculate tax deductions, benefits and other deductions for unusual or changed payroll data.

Enter payroll information into computer program.

Generate payroll checks and distribute or mail paychecks.

Assist employees in understanding payroll calculations and deductions, investigate problems and make appropriate corrections.

Provide and coordinate banking information for payroll.

Use payroll system information to generate appropriate tax documents and filings including quarterly taxes and W2’s.

Review benefit accruals, pension and other eligibility information, making adjustments as status changes occur.

Prepare general ledger entries to record payroll information as well as any necessary accruals.

Prepare and distribute termination checks.

Assist with payroll related sections of the annual external financial audit

Work with the payroll bank transferor to ensure that the payroll transfer is submitted to the bank by department and bank guidelines (2 working days before the effective date)

Review Account Reconciliations for assigned accounts based on frequency by account

Work with the Accounting Assistant to support this position in payroll processing. Cross-train with this position on key payroll areas to ensure adequate coverage

Manage and coordinate workers’ compensation audits and provide reconciliation support for 401K audits.

Perform related work as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate’s Degree in Accounting
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Two years of payroll experience (Additional appropriate experience may be substituted for two years of payroll experience)

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a normal office environment and may require working irregular hours.
PAY AND BENEFITS:
The estimated pay range for this position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related criteria.
