JOB SUMMARY

The Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for driving top-of-funnel activity, identifying new clinical trial opportunities, nurturing sponsors and CRO relationships, and supporting the BD team in building a strong, predictable pipeline. This role emphasizes outreach, lead qualification and strategic follow-up to position Innovo early for relevant studies across key therapeutic areas, including vaccines, cardiometabolic, pediatrics, respiratory, obesity/weight loss, autoimmune and oncology.

Qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead Generation & Prospecting

  • Conduct proactive outreach to sponsors, CROs, and biotech companies to introduce Innovo Research’s network and capabilities.

  • Qualify inbound and outbound leads; assess study feasibility at a high level before escalating to BD leadership.

  • Maintain consistent email, phone, and LinkedIn outreach, aligned with BD team strategy and monthly KPIs.

  • Utilize Apollo.io, Salesforce, and other tools to identify decision-makers, pipeline gaps, and new opportunities.

Pipeline Development

  • Build and maintain a healthy funnel of early-stage opportunities across priority therapeutic areas.

  • Monitor upcoming trials, RFPs, and sponsor pipelines; flag studies that align with Innovo's sites and PI capabilities.

Sponsor & CRO Engagement

  • Schedule introductory calls, capability presentations, and follow-ups for senior BD team members.

  • Capture key meeting notes and next steps in Salesforce.

  • Assist with coordinating pre-feasibility discussions and gathering initial site intelligence as needed.

Collaboration & Internal Coordination

  • Work closely with BD leadership to align outreach strategies with current pipeline needs.

  • Partner with Startup, Operations, and Feasibility teams to share incoming study intel.

  • Provide weekly pipeline and activity updates during BD team huddles.

CRM Management

  • Ensure that all outreach, contacts, opportunities, and status updates are accurately documented in Salesforce.

  • Maintain clean, organized account data to support forecasting, reporting, and KPI tracking.

Qualifications

Required

  • 1–3 years of experience in business development, sales, or inside sales (life sciences, biotech, or clinical research strongly preferred).

  • Strong communication skills, professional, concise, and confident when speaking with sponsor-level stakeholders.

  • Highly organized with the ability to manage a large volume of outreach and follow-ups.

  • Proficient in CRM systems

  • Experience with prospective tools such as Apollo.io, ZoomInfo, or similar.

  • High attention to detail and willingness to learn clinical research fundamentals.

  • Preferred

  • Experience in clinical research, healthcare, or the life sciences industry.

  • Understanding clinical trial operations, feasibility, and site roles.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This job operates in a remote environment with occasional site visits. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and scanners. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET.
