Christie Clinic's department of Ophthalmology is seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Assistant for the Christie at the Fields clinic from Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.

Duties include checking in patients prior to patient seeing provider and performing any pretesting on patient that is needed. Experience in an Ophthalmic office setting and Certified Ophthalmic Technician/Or Certified Nursing Assistant is highly preferred.

JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)

• Check in patients prior to patient seeing provider.
• Update medical history, check visual acuities and administer eye drops.
• Maintain exam rooms for necessary supplies and material. Ensure cleanliness.
• Oversee the sterilization of department instruments along with nursing staff.
• Assist provider with minor surgeries that are scheduled in office.
• Perform specialized testing.
• Review online transcriptions prior to patient appointment and update during appointment as necessary.
• Perform related work as required.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 50 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a clinical setting with frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Requirements may include working irregular hours.
