About the Job

The C-CARTS Scheduler assists with providing the highest quality of customer service by using all tools available to maintain optimum service levels. This is accomplished by assisting in the management of such things as the assignment of runs, personnel, equipment, the alteration and manipulation of run schedules as needed, in response to ever-changing operational conditions. Record keeping and clerical functions are performed incidental to these responsibilities. The C-CARTS Scheduler reports to the Special Services Manager.


Essential Functions

  1. Coordinates daily transportation operations, including scheduling, route adjustments, and service updates

  2. Monitors bus and street conditions for schedule and procedure compliance

  3. Adjusts run schedules and equipment, in coordination with other Schedulers, to respond to system problems to maintain efficient and effective service

  4. Assists in all emergency situations involving vehicles such as intervening with problem passengers, communicating accident information, performing redirection of service and directing responding personnel to an area

  5. Provides information to the public and assists with scheduling transportation

  6. Completes record keeping and data reporting

  7. Delivers excellent customer service and clear communication with riders, drivers, and partner agencies

  8. Prioritizes multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment

  9. Resolves operational and service issues using strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills

  10. Understands and applies reporting, billing, and documentation procedures accurately

  11. Follows all Medicaid transportation requirements, trip authorization, billing, and documentation procedures

Physical Demands

The exertion level required for this position while performing office duties is generally considered light work. Physical requirements include stooping, bending, standing, squatting/crouching, pushing/pulling, and reaching above shoulders. While performing the duties of this job, employees are often required to sit, with regular periods of walking and standing; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; use vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally or a up to 10 lbs. of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.


Work Environment

The work environment involves exposure to conditions generally found in an office setting within a shared workspace. The noise level is quiet to moderate. There are frequent interruptions to this position’s workflow with moderate foot traffic. There is an expectation to hold and attend meetings on a regular basis.


Additional Information

  • Work shifts vary from day to night, as needed. C-CARTS operates Monday through Friday, including holidays, and this position may require some work outside of traditional business hours.

  • All MTD employees are trained on the Management System Policy and the impacts associated with this position

Qualifications

  • A high school degree or equivalent is required.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Experience in a busy office environment with moderate interruptions is preferred.
