Under the supervision of the Technology Manager, the Network Technician supports network devices and operations, servers, computers, telecommunications, circulating devices, maker space equipment plus network devices and peripherals. Responsible for network and endpoint function and security. Provides prompt and friendly support for our end users (both staff and public).
The schedule includes afternoons and evening shifts with some weekend shifts possible.
Open until filled, with first review of applicants starting February 23, 2026. Examples of Duties
-
- Installs, troubleshoots, upgrades, repairs or replaces hardware/software. Provides support for Windows servers, PC’s, Mac’s, chrome, iOS, and Android.
- Provides network support, monitors network security, network filtering, and ensures backups and assists with disaster recovery planning.
- Maintains library specific hardware and software such as automated checkout system, materials handling system, public reservation and print systems
- Works with vendors to troubleshoot and resolve problems
- Participates in departmental and library-wide training and activities, including technology and safety training
- Provides excellent internal and external customer service
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements

- Excellent computer hardware and software skills in a Windows server and PC environment. Ability to install, configure, and maintain physical, virtual, and cloud networks, servers, PCs, Macs, and related hardware and software
- Excellent troubleshooting and customer service skills
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strong commitment to public service
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Ability to work with library customers and staff in a friendly and efficient manner
- Excellent oral and written communications skills with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel or public
- Ability to maintain reliable attendance and regular schedule
- Ability to issue guidance and ensure compliance with the Library’s Rules of Conduct and policies
- Flexibility to adapt to changing situations and varying work schedule
- Good vision and hearing to engage effectively with customers
- Manual dexterity to operate computer and phone equipment
- Proficiency with workplace productivity software, including skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Physical ability to lift or push up to 40 pounds to move carts, carry and install computer equipment
- Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving history, and personal automobile for job-related transportation
- Satisfactory pre-employment background check
Acceptable Experience and Training
-
- Associate degree or two years of college required
- Associate degree in network administration and support or computer information systems preferred
- Three or more years of experience with Windows servers, computers, network devices and peripherals, including installation and maintenance required
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
