Afterschool Leader

Champaign Park District – Part-Time 2, Non-Exempt (hours not to exceed 19 per week on average)


About the Job:Love hanging out with kids, playing games, and making every afternoon an adventure? As an Afterschool Leader, you won’t just watch kids—you’ll join in the fun! From leading games and crafts to keeping everyone safe and smiling, you’ll be right in the action helping kids learn, laugh, and grow.


Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Jump in and actively play with kids during indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Keep everyone safe and happy while encouraging teamwork and fun.
  • Lead games, crafts, and enrichment activities that kids look forward to every day.
  • Supervise at the pool when needed (yes, that means sometimes you get to hop in too!).
  • Be ready to step up in emergencies and provide first aid when necessary.
  • Help keep play areas clean and ready for action.
  • Communicate with staff, parents, and kids to make sure everyone’s in the loop.
  • Attend training and team meetings to keep building your skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • Demonstrated responsibility and reliability in attendance and job performance
  • Strong communication skills for positive interaction with participants, peers, and supervisors
  • Ability to lead recreational activities for children of varying ages
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions from supervisors and experienced leaders
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team to support program success
  • Adaptability to perform different tasks and responsibilities as needed
