Summary
The Customer Service Manager is responsible for the front desk and concession operations at Sholem Aquatic Center
Qualifications
- Must be at least 19 years of age .
- Ability to effectively communicate with the public and staff and work cooperatively and harmoniously with people in an enthusiastic manner.
- Understanding of accounting for daily receipt and cash control policies.
- Previous cash handling and food service experience.
- Ability to calculate cash transactions and make change.
- Experience supervising and leading staff.
- Proven success with organizational abilities.
- Ability to plan, organize, and manage concession operations.
Supervision
The Customer Service Manager reports to the Aquatics Coordinator
Classification
- Non-exempt, hourly
- Seasonal (not to exceed six (6) months)
- Season is March to September
Training – Can be obtained through Champaign Park District
- First Aid, AED, and CPR Certification.
- Heads Up Concussion training.
- Mandated reporter training.
- Harassment prevention training.
- Bloodborne pathogen training.
- Recreation software system training.
- Drivers training and test.
- Facility training.
- Food Handler Manager Certification must be completed within 30 days of employment.
Essential Functions
- Follow all Champaign Park District safety policies and perform all work in a manner that ensures the safety of oneself, the public, fellow employees.
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and discretion in all interactions, including maintaining strict confidentiality regarding staff information, communications from supervisors, and conversations with parents or patrons. Uphold the Park District’s policies and standards for data privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Receive all incoming telephone calls.
- Concession and pool admission sales.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of all pool programs, events, and rentals.
- Daily cleaning and maintenance of the foodservice area and equipment.
- Food preparation, proper storage, and inventory.
- Compliance with opening and closing procedures to include inventory and cash control procedures.
- Serve the public and work with fellow staff in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Assist with special functions.
- Assist with interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising staff as well as complete payroll requirements.
- Keep accurate records of pool revenue, food sales, and daily deposits.
- Work with the Public Health Department to assure that the concessions stand complies with existing health standards on a daily basis.
- General supervision of aquatics concession activities ensuring daily facility cleanliness, equipment cleanliness, properly stored food, and correctly prepared food items.
- General supervision of aquatic facility admissions operations, including daily admissions, pool pass sales, and record keeping.
- Compliance with opening and closing procedures to include inventory and cash control procedures.
- Book groups, birthday parties, and rentals for Sholem Aquatic Center.
- Serve the public in a courteous, pleasant, and efficient manner.
- Bank runs for petty cash as needed.

Physiological Considerations
- Ability to stand for extended periods, especially during peak hours.
- May be exposed to cleaning products.
- Capability to lift and carry supplies, including food items and equipment, to ensure proper inventory management.
Environmental Considerations
- Comfort working in a public-facing role, serving customers in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Ability to handle weather conditions during events, parties, and outdoor rentals.
- Must be able to work in a temperature-controlled space.
