Description

SUMMARY

The Showmobile Driver and Operator drives the Champaign Park District portable stage to locations throughout the community and oversees all aspects of the set-up and breakdown of the stage and accompanying equipment

This is a seasonal position that generally has a steady work flow from May to after Labor Day and sporadic work into the Fall. The average work week has variable hours. Most of the working hours are evenings and weekends


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Valid State of Illinois CDL Drivers license with Class A endorsement
  • Experience working with audio, electrical, mechanical, and visual equipment
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Park District staff and the general public
  • Ability to work independently
  • Certification in CPR, First Aid and Blood borne Pathogens training or willingness to obtain during probationary period
  • Experience working with the public and providing good customer service
  • POSITIVE CAN DO TEAM ATTITUDE

SUPERVISION

The Showmobile Driver and Operator is directly responsible to the Special Events/Volunteer Manager but may be supervised by the Special Events and Volunteer Coordinator as directed at the event or program site


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Follow all Champaign Park District safety policies and perform all work in a manner that ensures the safety of the public, fellow employees, and themselves
  • Safely drive the Showmobile on city streets and through parks
  • Operate audio, electrical, and mechanical equipment on the Showmobile
  • Assist with set-up, over site and tear down at CPD sponsored events
  • Drive Sound Truck as needed for delivery of equipment
  • Maintain complete records of program operations
  • Assist with crowd control and supervision at concerts, movies, special events, and Showmobile rentals
  • Report all maintenance and supply needs to supervisor
  • Work and communicate with rental customers assisting them with their staging needs

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

  • Attend required meetings and staff training sessions
  • Distribute Champaign Park District promotional materials at events
  • Other duties as assigned by the Special Events/Volunteers Manager

PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • Must be able to resolve differences and problems that arise with staff, participants, volunteers, partners, and sponsors in a professional manner and in the spirit of the districts mission
  • Must be a self-starter who is able to work with little supervision

PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • Must be able to support rigorous meeting schedules during peak programming seasons
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends on a regular basis
  • Must be able to lift supplies and equipment up to 60 pounds when needed

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • May be exposed to all weather conditions including rain, wind, snow and extreme temperatures

COGNITIVE CONSIDERATIONS

  • Should be safety conscious at all times
  • Must be able to work well with people, resolve problems fairly and with judgment in keeping with the mission of the district
  • Must be able to respond quickly and accurately in emergency situations
