Hours: This is a part-time position available from April through October; hours will vary including weekends and holidays. Several positions will be available. The primary work location is the Lake of the Woods Golf Course in Mahomet.
Wage: $9.00 per hour/+tips
The Snack Bar/Beverage Cart Attendant is a seasonal position responsible for serving golf course patrons beverages and snacks while visiting the Pro Shop and while playing the course.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Prepare and serve various snacks and beverages (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) to golf course patrons
• Ensure prompt, friendly, and professional service to all patrons
• Receive and record all monetary transactions
• Perform snack bar and beverage cart opening/closing procedures
• Maintain cleanliness of snack bar area and beverage cart
• Inventory, stock and maintain work areas
• Provide general information to golf course patrons as needed regarding the golf course and the District
• Follow all applicable food handling and liquor policies
• Observe patron activity and explain/enforce District rules of conduct as applicable
• Operate the beverage cart safely throughout the golf course; report any maintenance or safety issues to ensure they are corrected
• Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to understand and follow both written and verbal directions
• Must be able to communicate effectively with golf course patrons and to develop good working relationships with co-workers and other District employees
• Ability to work independently in daily operations under general supervision, to exercise judgement in the performance of duties, and to identify and solve problems as they arise
• Must possess good math skills to properly handle monetary transactions
• Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous experience in beverage or food service
• Knowledge of golf and/or golf course operations
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification or the ability to obtain certification within 2 months of employment
• BASSET Certification (Alcohol Servers) or ability to attain within the first month of employment (provided by employer, if needed).

Work is typically performed indoors in a snack bar setting with frequent interruptions. Operation of the beverage cart will be performed outdoors under various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind. Duties will be performed in close proximity to the general public and the employee will have frequent interactions with patrons. While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be exposed to hazardous flora and fauna (e.g. poison ivy, wild parsnip, biting/stinging insects, ticks) and chemicals (e.g. cleaning supplies, herbicides/pesticides).
Normal duties may include stooping, twisting, kneeling, crouching, and sitting. Prolonged standing or walking, sometimes on unpaved/uneven terrain, will be frequent. The employee will regularly handle, grasp, or feel objects; reach, push, or pull to reposition items; and may regularly lift up to 10 pounds to shoulder height or above and up to 25 pounds to carrying height. Ability to talk and hear or otherwise effectively communicate with staff and patrons is required. Visual acuity necessary for this position includes close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Use of personal protective equipment will be required based on job specific tasks. This may include, but is not limited to: closed toed shoes, protective gloves, safety goggles or glasses, earplugs or ear covers, reflective vest or hi-vis shirt, and respirator or mask.
