Overview

The Field Training Officer (FTO) provides on the job training (OJT) and mentoring of new officers during a prescribed training period. Ongoing mentoring of officers and reinforcement of training objectives and policy adherence will be required as needed. After the initial period of OJT, the FTO will provide campus security management with a written assessment of the new officer's progress and suitability for independent work assignment. The FTO will oversee shift operations as needed. As part of the uniformed security division, the FTO will provide physical security for the hospital and grounds and protects patients, visitors, and employees from physical harm or loss of personal property. Protects the assets of the hospital from fire, theft, damage, or misuse and immediately responds to emergency situations as directed. Proactively identifies and resolves security/safety issues that pose a potential risk to hospital and exercises mature judgment, sound reasoning in the performance of job responsibilities. Able to maintain a courteous and tactful demeanor in all interactions with employees, visitors, and patients.

Responsibilities

Serves as an example of professionalism and competence accurately representing the mission and values of the security department and organization.
Provides mentoring for new officers and on the job training for success.
Provides a detailed written assessment of the officer’s progress and suitability for independent assignment.
Provides ongoing mentoring and policy adherence for officers.
Performs productive security patrols of the hospital, garage and perimeter.
Recognizes conditions which are or will compromise the security of the organization and takes immediate actions to mitigate.
Reports and/or corrects safety and security violations encountered during patrols.
Takes proactive measures to mitigate thefts, disturbances and other criminal incidents.
Checks to ensure that visitors and staff members are wearing proper identification badges/passes.
Immediately notifies supervisors of security/safety-related problems or issues.
Adheres to departmental and hospital policies, procedures and directives as it relates to the management and processing of visitors to the hospital.
Ensures that visitors are properly identified and proactively addresses issues with non-compliance with visitors which are observed during patrols
Adheres to post orders for all fixed and patrol positions.
As necessary, oversees shift operations.

Qualifications

Certifications: Certified Advanced Healthcare Security Officer (CAHSO) within 6 months - International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS); Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training within 3 months - Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI); Driver's License - Illinois Secretary of State (ILSOS); Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) - Illinois State Police (ISP), Education: , Work Experience: Security training

Salary Range

The compensation range for this position is $19.8per hour - $32.08per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
