Overview
Responsibilities
Answers the telephone, takes messages, and directs calls to appropriate personnel.
Assists in the coordination and completion of the annual inventory.
Assists pharmacist in coordinating/scheduling preparation of sterile admixtures. Prepares and generates batch for preparation of sterile admixtures.
Completes pharmaceutical records and other records as indicated.
Ensures the clean room, warehouse, and related equipment are cleansed and maintained per organizational policy and procedures.
Generates labels and packages in accordance with the dispensing order and under the supervision of a pharmacist.
Maintains a thorough and accurate clinical record for each patient receiving care. Completes required written documentation in a timely fashion in order to facilitate efficient, safe, and continuous care between team members.
Monitors for and appropriately returns or destroy expired or unusable drugs per policy/procedures.
Participate with the pharmacist to enter and process new prescriptions and refills in the computer and to monoitor, maintain, prepare and pack orders for drugs and related supplies for specific patient populations.
Perform miscellaneous billing functions, including patient charging and crediting, nursing unit charges, and controlled substance charging through manual entry into the computer, or with bar code reader.
Performs and records various quality control activities and reports outcomes to the pharmacist or clinical supervisor.
Prepares and delivers enteral nutritional supplements to patient care areas. Maintains enteral records and billing functions.
Prepares/compounds sterile admixtures using aseptic techniques and under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
Updates drug prices in the computer when changes are received under the supervision of the pharmacist or clinical supervisor.
