Overview

Responsible for researching, resolving, documenting, and responding to inquiries related to patient accounts from patients, insurance companies, attorneys, public agencies, internal departments, employers, and third party payers. Responsible for reviewing and calculating pre-determinations and charge estimates adhering to federal, State and regulatory criteria. Assists patients with setting up payment arrangements. Process and posts all payments collected including required time of service payments, and collects on outstanding accounts receivable. Provides financial counseling for charity, presumptive eligibility screening, and assists with application process. Responsible for cash drawer balancing and daily deposit.

Responsibilities

  • Researches, resolves, documents, and responds to all patient account inquiries generated from telephone, walk-in, virtual visits, MyCarle or written correspondence. This is for internal and external customers and includes all billing entities for Carle.
  • Identifies and resolves insurance coverage errors, registration errors and billing errors to facilitate accurate and timely billing and payment processing.
  • Analyzes and determines account corrections for guarantor number changes (GNC's) double registrations, and other account build issues in the practice management system.
  • Performs financial counseling, conducts presumptive charity screening, and assists patients in the process of applying for and/ or setting up Carle Financial Assistance program.
  • Assists patients in setting up payment arrangements on outstanding accounts receivable, as well as collects payments at time of service. Facilitates prompt pay discount, service agreement discounts "Amish", and payroll deduction, and reoccurring payments. Processes and posts payments within practice management system.
  • Prepares and provides estimates for services to patients adhering to federal, State, and regulatory requirements. Manages estimate variances and applies adjustments according to policy, and subsequent communications to patient.
  • Responsible for cash drawer balancing and daily deposit.
  • Monitors and files claims to drug assistance companies.
  • Initiates monthly statements for Carle Richland Memorial Hospital Extended Care Wing and manages individual patient accounts as needed.
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding departmental productivity, quality assurance standards, and service excellence.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $16.73per hour - $27.1per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
