JOB SUMMARY:
Sign on Bonus Available
$5,000 less than 1yr of experience
$10,000 greater than 1yr of experience
Relocation Bonus Available
$2,500 relocation (for greater than 50 miles)

The Clinical Laboratory Supervisor assists the Clinical Lab Manager by providing oversight of day to day operations in clinical laboratory.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors Clinical Laboratory Sciences or Bachelors Biological Science

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP) upon hire or Medical Laboratory Scientist (AMT) upon hire or Medical Technologist (ASCP) upon hire or Medical Technologist (AMT) upon hire.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Three (3) years of experience in core lab operations and leadership.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Working knowledge of clinical operating systems supporting the Lab. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work both independently and effectively with others. Excellent communication and writing skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provides support to, and serves as backup for the Clinical Lab Manager.
  • Responsible for the oversight of day to day operations in the hematology (hem) and chemistry (chem) departments.
  • Leads initiatives at the direction/discretion of the Clinical Lab Manager.
  • Overall responsibility for regulatory preparedness in both areas (working with lab leadership and staff).
  • Ongoing monitoring of quality and performance metrics.
  • Performance evaluation and ongoing supervision of all hem/chem personnel.
  • Assists with operating and capital budget preparation and monthly expense variance reporting.
  • Ensures appropriate staffing in the Chemistry and Hematology sections and reassigns staff between the two areas as dictated by workload.
  • Monitors turn-around-time reports and implements corrective action to ensure the established timeframes are consistently met.
  • Helps assess and recommend new instrumentation and tests for the Chemistry and Hematology sections.
  • Ensures implementation studies, LIS validation and staff training take place when new instrumentation and tests are implemented.
  • Performs performance evaluations for staff in the Hematology and Chemistry sections.
  • Evaluates CAP checklists and ensures the Chemistry and Hematology sections are in compliance with all regulations.
  • Monitors quality metrics for Chemistry and Hematology and implements corrective action as needed to ensure all quality goals are met.
