Job Description:

We are seeking a talented UI/UX Designer intern to create visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces for a critical web application. We are looking for someone with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in designing beautiful and functional web applications, particularly for complex data-driver systems.

Your Responsibilities:

• Understand User Needs: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand the needs and workflows of laboratory users.
• UI/UX Design for Web Application: Design the complete user interface and user experience for our web application, focusing on clarity, efficiency, and visual appeal.
• Data Registration Form Design: Design intuitive and efficient data registration forms for various data types, ensuring data validation and user guidance.
• Wireframing & Prototyping: Develop wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes to communicate design ideas and gather feedback.
• Visual Design & Style Guide: Create a visually appealing and consistent design language for the application, including color palettes, typography, and UI elements.
• Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with our development team, providing clear design specifications and assets.
• Usability Testing Consideration: Design with usability in mind, considering potential future usability testing and iterations

Technical Requirements & Skills

Must-Have:

• Experience in Web Application UI/UX Design: Proven track record of designing user interfaces for complex web applications, not just websites. We are looking for someone who understands the nuances of application design.
• Experience with Data Visualization: Experience designing dashboards or interfaces that effectively visualize data would be beneficial.
• Strong Portfolio Showcasing Web Application Designs: Your portfolio must demonstrate your experience with web application design, ideally including projects that involve data visualization, complex forms, or workflow management. Please include links to live web application examples or detailed case studies in your proposal.
• Experience Designing Data-Rich Interfaces: Experience designing interfaces for applications dealing with large amounts of data, data registration, and data retrieval is highly preferred.
• Expertise in UI/UX Design Tools: Proficiency in industry-standard UI/UX design tools such as Figma (recommended). Please specify which tools you are proficient in.
• Understanding of User-Centered Design Principles: Demonstrated ability to apply user-centered design principles to create intuitive and effective user interfaces.
• Excellent Communication Skills: Clear and concise communication skills in English, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with our team.

Nice-to-Have:

• Understanding of Responsive Design Principles: Ability to design interfaces that are responsive and work well across different screen sizes.
• Knowledge of Accessibility Best Practices (WCAG): Awareness of accessibility guidelines and designing for inclusivity is a plus.
