The Production Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising daily production activities to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, on time, and in compliance with quality and regulatory standards. This role focuses on execution, people leadership, and continuous improvement to meet production targets while controlling costs and maintaining a safe work environment.
Essential functions:
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily production activities for filling and packaging of personal care products.
- Execute production schedules to meet customer demand, delivery commitments, and operational objectives.
- Directly supervise production employees, including day‑to‑day oversight of performance, attendance, training, and adherence to safety, quality, and operational standards.
- Monitor key production metrics including throughput, labor efficiency, scrap, and downtime; take corrective action as needed.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and cost across production operations.
- Ensure compliance with all cGMPs, SOPs, and regulatory requirements including FDA, OSHA, and company quality standards.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues that impact product quality, efficiency, or cost.
- Assist in developing, updating, and training employees on SOP and work instructions.
- Provide input to Manager on staffing needs, performance management, and operational improvements.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and development of production personnel.
- Lead by example to promote accountability, teamwork, and a customer‑focused mindset.
- Perform other duties as requested.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Strong leadership and people management skills within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple production lines and priorities simultaneously.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing preferably in personal care.
- Effective problem‑solving skills with a hands‑on, floor‑focused approach.
- Ability to analyze production data and drive performance improvements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, operations management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in production leadership in a manufacturing environment, preferably in personal care
- Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives preferred.
