JOB TITLE: Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator Salary Exempt

REPORT TO: EHS Manager

JOB SUMMARY: The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of environmental, health, and safety programs for a personal care manufacturing facility. This role works closely with the EHS Manager to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting a strong safety culture throughout the plant. The ideal candidate will have a foundational background in safety and environmental compliance and a strong desire to learn and grow within the EHS function.

Responsibilities

Environmental Compliance

  • Assist with compliance efforts related to EPA, OSHA and applicable local and state regulations
  • Support the management of plant waste streams, including hazardous and non-hazardous waste
  • Coordinate waste disposal activities, including obtaining quotes and working with approved disposal vendors and suppliers
  • Ensure proper handling, labeling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and waste materials
  • Maintain environmental records, manifests, and documentation required for compliance
  • Assist with environmental inspections, audits, and regulatory reporting as needed

Health & Safety

  • Support daily plant safety operations and initiatives
  • Conduct and assist with safety training programs for employees, including new hire orientation and refresher training
  • Help ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies
  • Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking
  • Assist with Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), risk assessments, and hazard identification
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement and communication

Training & Communication

  • Coordinate and track required EHS training records
  • Assist in developing training materials related to safety and environmental topics
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding safety and environmental questions
  • Support safety committees and EHS-related meetings

Skills, Abilities and Education

  • 2-5 years of experience in environmental health and safety, manufacturing safety, or a related field
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills and ability to train employees at all levels
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a manufacturing environment

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Safety, Industrial Hygiene or a related field
  • Experience in chemical handling, waste management, or manufacturing environments
  • OSHA 30, HAZWOPER, or other EHS-related certification
