PURPOSE:

The Plant Controller will manage and direct all aspects of accounting operations at the Rantoul facility. The Plant Controller will play a key role in day-to-day finance tasks at the plant including managing vendors, optimizing purchasing of frequently purchased items, and inventory management. The Plant Controller will have the ability to identify and implement changes to create efficiencies at the plant. The Plant Controller will also monitor and evaluate key performance metrics and provide monthly reporting to the CFO on plant-related matters.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee all activities related to Plant accounting operations.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for all month-end closing functions for the plant inclusive of customer reports, plant efficiencies, material variances, production reports and purchase price variances.
  • Build the internal control environment, processes, policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure cost and expense control procedures are in place, analyze cash flow and expenses to guide the executive team.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Work with the CFO in preparing a robust financial reporting packaging, including insightful analysis of key variances vs. budget and prior year, for use by the executive team, investors and lenders.
  • Collaborate on the budget process by working with the finance team to develop new standard costs and maintain overhead budgets for all departments.
  • Maintain all finished good costs and component standards.
  • Be the point of contact for all contract manufacturing customers including weekly or monthly reporting and leading the follow-up for any discrepancies.
  • Maintain subcontractor inventory reports and scrap reports.
  • Oversee all plant bill of materials and material masters.
  • Oversee plant MRO accounts payable. Issue purchase orders and approve all invoices for payment.
  • Maintain all invoicing for miscellaneous contract customer items such as pallet charges, DRM fees, EO charges, etc.
  • Maintain contract customer scrap reports.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as directed.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Experience with Manhattan (WMS) and NetSuite is preferred.
  • Good communication skills (verbal, written, analysis presentational) are essential.
  • Possesses a process-oriented mindset to identify efficiency opportunities.
  • Strong Office and Excel skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a Finance function at a manufacturing facility.
  • Experience with an enterprise level ERP system – a plus if the experience is NetSuite.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office particularly in Excel, PowerPoint and Word required.
  • Self-started who is action oriented.
  • Hands-on approach.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Professionally handle sensitive information.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability in working independently and as part of a team.

Compensation

The salary range for this role considers a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; and other business and organizational needs. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the expected annual salary for this position is $100,000 – 125,000 USD.
