Job Title:Continuous Improvement Engineer

Department:Continuous Improvement Department

Reports To:Plant Manager

Status: Full-Time/Exempt

Summary: Leads and/or coordinates projects identified by the Operations Manager using Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies. Leads process improvement activities to ensure functionality, quality, cost, and schedule. Supports plant initiatives relating to continuous improvement. Recruits, trains and leads project team members.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Salary Information:

  • Minimum Hiring Rate: $75,164/year Maximum Hiring Rate: $110,000/year
  • Monthly Bonus opportunities up to 9% of base monthly pay

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Evaluates, analyzes, and makes recommendations on processes and cost improvements to improve the competitive position of the company.
  1. Develop and implement strategies to reduce waste, improve quality, and increase efficiency.
  1. Track project progress, report results, and ensure sustainability of improvements.
  1. Facilitate Kaizen events, value stream mapping, and root cause analysis sessions.
  1. Educate and coach employees on continuous improvement methodologies and tools.
  1. Promote a culture of problem-solving and innovation throughout the organization.
  1. Leads improvement projects and effectively coordinates these projects with department managers, project sponsors, and other AFSI personnel to ensure successful integration and prevent potential conflicts with other initiatives.
  1. Identifies,defines,leads,and implementsimprovement projectsusingLean/Six Sigmaand other continuous improvement methodologies,ensuring alignment with businessobjectives.
  1. Provides training and servesas a technical resource to spread knowledge and usage ofContinuous Improvement tools throughout the AFSI organization.
  1. Coordinateswith other Operations team members to develop, recommend, and implement measures to improve safety, production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  1. Maintains, analyzes, and controls TPM.
  1. Continues personal studies through corporate programs, outside seminars,and educational institutionsin order tomaintainand improve knowledge of current continuous improvement initiatives.
  1. Works in a safe manner, following all safety policies and procedures while keeping in mind other’s safety as well.
  1. Reports any accidents and potentially unsafe conditions or unsafe actsimmediatelytoappropriatesupervisor.
  1. Other duties as assigned.

  • Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Three to five years of manufacturing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have experience with Lean/Six Sigma manufacturing. Excellent project management, presentation, training, team leadership, and communication skills are a must.

  • Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

  • Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

  • Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Certification in Lean/Six Sigma a plus.

  • Other Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to positively affect others with knowledge ofLean/Six Sigma methodologies; Ability to develop, execute andmonitorplans; Ability to interact well within all levels of the organization.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation abilities.
  • Proficiencyin data analysis tools and project management software.
