Summary: Directs and coordinates overall US plant operations consisting of all aspects of production activity.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises managerial and supervisory staff of various departments at AFSI US, including but not limited to: Production, Planning, Distribution, Quality, and Engineering and Technical Support. Responsible for day to day operations of AFSI US plant, with implementation of managerial responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Ensures that objectives are achieved at the lowest cost consistent with safety, quality, delivery, and cost expectations of General Manager and customer.
  2. Develops and recommends short-term and long-term plans concerning plant space, equipment, staffing, and other resources.
  3. Assures all approved plans are properly implemented and monitors results being achieved in relation to planned goals and takes corrective action when necessary.
  4. Strives for continued profit improvement through development and/or implementation of cost control measures to reduce cost of labor, material or overhead.
  5. Maintains plant inventories at optimum levels to meet anticipated customer needs without excess investment.
  6. Delegates authority to key managers and supervisors in production, quality, technical support, planning and distribution, and related operations.
  7. Establishes clear direction for successful implementation of strategic business plans.
  8. Prepares and manages plant budgets and manages plant development plans to ensure project completion.
  9. Integrates and sustains lean, continuous improvement, and 8D strategies to drive plant productivity, efficiency, and safety.
  10. Develops and maintains a favorable employee relations climate and community relations.
  11. Minimizes lost time accidents and takes prompt action to eliminate unsafe acts or conditions and to improve overall safety conditions within the plant.
  12. Maintains all plant buildings, equipment, and grounds.
  13. Assures company compliance with all appropriate state and federal regulations and laws.
  14. Keeps informed of new developments and techniques in production processes and related plant operations and implements those which have the potential to improve operation results.
  15. Works in a safe manner, following all safety policies and procedures while keeping in mind other’s safety as well.
  16. Reports any accidents and potentially unsafe conditions or unsafe acts immediately to appropriate supervisor.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or equivalent in Engineering or business-related field, Master’s Degree in Engineering or Business-related field-, or minimum 10 years professional level plant operations experience, including managerial experience.

Language Skills: Is able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Is able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Is able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, employees, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills: Is able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Is able to apply concepts of basic algebra and statistics.

Reasoning Ability: Is able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Is able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Internet software; Kronos timekeeping system; Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word software.

Other Skills and Abilities: Strong knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other methods to maximize effectiveness and quality of the manufacturing and distribution of goods. Strong critical thinking and leadership skills.

Is able to interact well within all levels of the organization.
