Chief Administrative Officer
Village of Savoy
The Village seeks a dedicated, highly collaborative, and passionate leader to serve as its next CAO. This individual will lead, and is a visible member of, the Village President’s Senior Staff and requires well-developed leadership abilities and management skills that are based upon loyalty, trustworthiness, professionalism, consensus building, and problem-solving.
The Village seeks:
• Leadership: Be dedicated to becoming an effective servant leader and building collaborative and positive relationships with employees, colleagues, and community stakeholders. Have strong and confident communication skills, excellent relationship-building abilities, an accessible leadership style, and a calm demeanor. Be one who can establish trust quickly with others. Have thorough knowledge of the principles of personnel management including recruiting, training, promoting, and coaching.
• Experience: Specifically, in the areas of economic development; human resource management; and building constructive and effective relationships with stakeholders. Business acumen and experience with effective budgetary control and conservative fiscal management are crucial.
• Innovation: Bring fresh ideas to the organization and offer unique perspectives and experiences. Have knowledge of how to effectively manage change and generate buy-in from staff.
• Energy: Provide enthusiasm and bring focused energy to all projects and a passion for service to the community. Be one who is highly motivated and can develop and articulate a longterm plan for the Village with the charisma to lead our team to an even higher level of excellence. Be a highly motivated, visionary, goal-oriented leader with a proven ability to gain cooperation and communicate clear direction.
• Follow-through: The Village Administrator must be able to be fact-based and evidence-driven so they can lead the municipal corporation to be mission-focused and results oriented
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, business management, or a closely related field.
- Five (5) years of experience in municipal management with at least two (2) years of supervisory experience.
- Must establish principal residence within the Village’s corporate limits within 6 months of employment.
- Must be bondable.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in public administration, public policy, business management, or a closely related field.
- Ten (10) years of experience in municipal management.
- Credentialed Manager designation through the International City/County Management Association.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary range for this position is $125,000 to $150,000. Additionally, the Village offers free individual membership to the Village’s Recreation Center and offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid vacation; sick leave; holiday pay; individual life insurance; 100% employer-paid employee health, dental, and vision insurance (employee pays 50% for dependents); and enrollment in Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund. Village residency is required within 6 months of start date.
