Job Summary
Under direct supervision of an Assistant Director for Student Engagement, serves as a member of the Student Organization Development & Administration (SODA) team coordinating student organization registration and event processes, providing critical support to more than one thousand student organizations.Duties & Responsibilities
Student Organization Administration
- Process student organization registration submissions including a review of new and revised constitutions to ensure compliance with university policies.
- Process registered student organization (RSO) event registrations, including an independent objective review of each submission to ensure adherence to department and university policies and procedures and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
- Meet with prospective leaders of new RSOs to determine if they are eligible to register and become established on campus.
- Assist with maintaining accurate and updated RSO records.
- Coordinate process for verifications related to RSO participation (e.g. absence verification, organization status, etc.).
- Assist with the implementation and coordination of university-wide student engagement initiatives, i.e., Quad Day & Student Org Expo.
Student Organization Development
- Assist in the facilitation of required educational orientations for RSO leadership roles, including, but not limited to, the President Orientation, New & Re-Activating Student Org Orientation, and Event Registration Orientation.
- Assist in the facilitation of optional workshops for RSO leadership on topics including, but not limited to, conflict management, diversity and inclusion, event planning, goal setting, recruitment and retention, risk management/harm reduction, hazing prevention, transitioning officer, and community engagement.
- Assist in the creation and implementation of other developmental experiences for RSO leaders and/or members.
Other Duties
- Perform other duties as assigned (including service on campus committees) to advance the unit, department, and division.
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree.
Experience:
- A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in higher education student affairs or project management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with student organizations in a university setting.
- Experience in event planning.
- Experience advising or mentoring students.
- Experience working as a professional or paraprofessional in Student Affairs.
- Experience in interpreting policy, managing work processes, or collaborating with others.
- Experience coordinating projects with stakeholders across multiple areas/units.
- Ability to interpret policy, exercise keen judgment, and adapt to changing conditions successfully.
- Ability to communicate effectively and build solid relationships with campus partners.
- Ability to manage multiple and complex priorities within a fast-paced environment where interruptions may be frequent.
- Knowledge of student organization/engagement management software.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work with, understand and include staff, students, alumni and community members with various backgrounds.
- Ability to provide programmatic oversight and leadership.
- Ability to develop, implement, and assess new and existing programs and services.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to prepare and deliver presentations and external publications.
- Strong organizational and problem-analysis skills.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 8/3/2026. The budgeted salary range for the position is $48,000 - $52,000.
