Job Summary
The Gies Business Office of Access and Community is actively engaged in fostering an inclusive learning and working environment where all are seen, heard, and valued. The Gies Business Office of Access and Community is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Associate Director for the Office of Access and Community. This role is pivotal in fostering an inclusive and engaging environment through strategic collaboration, public engagement, and comprehensive program management. Reporting to the Director of Access and Community, the Associate Director will be responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, coordination and assessment of education programs, services, and activities for Gies Business that educate and promote a College-wide understanding of inclusive practices that ensure all are seen, heard, and valued. Additionally, the Associate Director will assist the Director to refine and communicate the College's vision, priorities, and activities. This individual will serve as primary supervisor for the Access and Community Coordinator within the office and assume responsibility in the absence of the Director.
Duties & Responsibilities
Administration
· Assist the Director with managing the day-to-day operations of the Office of Access and Community
· Serve as the primary supervisor for the Access and Community Coordinator, and secondary supervisor for hourly employees, as needed
· Develop collaborative relationships with units across the college and campus, including Access & Engagement to ensure college and unit priorities are met
· Assist with monitoring required training for academic professionals, civil service, academic hourly, and student employees, with goal of 100% compliance
Faculty/Staff Outreach and Development
· Manage the Gies Business faculty and staff affinity groups by meeting regularly with lead facilitators and assisting with programmatic and belonging initiatives
· Lead the DEI Liaisons group by scheduling regular meetings and disseminating resources to support strategic goals of OAC and the College
· Assess ongoing needs for faculty and staff and developing relevant data-informed strategies to address concerns and opportunities for growth
· Design and deliver training sessions, dialogue series, and workshops aimed at enhancing access and community engagement for faculty and staff
· Coordinate and publicize developmental opportunities for faculty and staff related to teaching & learning, research, mentoring, and professional advancement
· In collaboration with the Director, develop and implement strategies to attract and retain a diverse and talented workforce
Collaborative Programming & Community Engagement
· Assist the Director with implementing the College’s strategic plan and serve as a frequent contributor to College-wide efforts to ensure all are seen, heard, and valued
· Lead efforts to engage with the community and serve as a representative of the OAC for College, Campus, and local community events
· Partner with the MarCom team to develop and implement communication strategies that promote the Office of Access and Community’s initiatives
· Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, alumni, and other collaborative partners
Financial Management and Budgeting
· Work with OAC staff to develop detailed programming budgets and cost projections; help them to align resources with strategic initiatives and use these draft budgets to create an overall unit budget for approval by Director
· Responsible for fiscal management and providing regular updates to the Director. Oversee all financial processes and activities, reports, and review and approve daily transactions
· Tracking expenditures for OAC-sponsored programs, including flights, accommodations, and other expenses
· Managing and reconciling purchase orders and coordinating vendor payments in collaboration with Office Support Specialist
· Overseeing T-Card and Chrome River reconciliation of the Office Support Specialist, ensuring compliance with financial policies, working closely with Gies Business Partners
Assessment and Evaluation
· Collaborate with Gies colleagues to develop and maintain assessment and evaluation tools for measuring OAC program impact and effectiveness
· Utilize emerging research, data, and anecdotal experiences to improve and expand services and educational opportunities, and to inform partners’ knowledge of the OAC’s strategic initiatives and outcomes.
Additional Physical Demands
The position involves remaining in a stationary position for periods of time, using carts, and rolling totes
to move boxes of program supplies 20 lbs. or less as necessary. It also requires lifting boxes as necessary. It also requires lifting boxes or bags of supplies weighing 20 lbs. or less onto or off carts. With or without reasonable accommodation.
Position may involve occasionally working outside of regular business hours for event assistance
Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in business administration, higher education administration, college student personnel, counseling, or related field
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related role with a focus on community engagement, business education, and program management.
· Demonstrated supervisory experience, including hiring, training, and performance management.
· Demonstrated commitment to broadening access and community-building for faculty and staff
· Ability to work as a contributing member in a collaborative environment with an understanding of the larger Gies Business and University contexts. This includes collaborating with colleagues and non-university key partners.
Preferred Qualifications
· Master’s degree
· Experience working in a College of Business or related educational setting
· At least 3 years of supervisory experience for full-time employees
· At least 3 years of direct experience leading faculty and staff development initiatives
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Strong leadership and organizational skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
· Demonstrated experience of sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 11/14/2025. The budgeted salary range for the position is $72,000 to $75,000 annually. Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints. Opportunity for advancement may be available for the appropriate incumbent.
