Summary:The Systems Engineer works within the global IT Team to implement, maintain and develop technical systems and applications, with specific expertise in networking (LAN, WAN, FW), servers/storage appliances, Active Directory and enterprise management tools. They are a technical resource to other AFSI IT staff, sharing responsibility for the day-to-day maintenance and support of the company’s global infrastructure and Help Desk functions.

The Systems Engineer will participate in a variety of cross-functional team projects including the planning, design, and implementation of (primarily) network and other infrastructure components and complementary technologies such as data storage systems, virtualization, security, and disaster recovery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain, secure and develop AFSI’s global network infrastructure, including but not limited to firewalls, switch/routing services, VPN access, IP services, Wireless and service redundancy.
  2. Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed, providing statistics and reporting.
  3. System architecture, engineering, administration and security of systems & applications, including but not limited to: Microsoft Windows Server, VMWare, Microsoft Active Directory, Office 365/Azure Tenants and cloud storage solutions.
  4. Desktop and application support to all AFSI staff.
  5. Configure, implement, maintain and upgrade company IT systems according to the global IT strategy.
  6. Provide input and recommendations for IT budget and controls budget spending.
  7. Ensure documentation is maintained for all IT systems assigned as a primary owner.
  8. Utilize the help desk ticketing system to provide optimized incident management and help maintain knowledge base systems for both IT staff and end-users.
  9. Continually look to improve and refine the infrastructure services delivered to the business.
  10. Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and their applicability to AFSI.
  11. Contribute technical skills, industry experience and best practices to the rest of the team, driving change.
  12. Work independently and exercise reasonable judgment with moderate supervision, while providing clear documentation of activities and accomplishments.
  13. Coordinate with AFSI Europe staff to organize and collaborate on projects.
  14. Make necessary arrangements to be accessible by phone and email on a reasonable, as-needed basis outside of set work hours to support the needs of production, maintenance, or direct reports.
  15. Work in a safe manner, following all safety policies and procedures while keeping in mind other people’s safety as well.
  16. Report any accidents and potentially unsafe conditions or unsafe acts immediately to the appropriate supervisor.
  17. Other duties as assigned.

  • Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree (B.S) or equivalent in Information Technology, Business, or related field; 3-5 years IT experience, including an additional 2+ years of experience as a systems engineer. Experience working in multi-country/international application or technology deployments desired.

  • Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

  • Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

  • Computer Skills:

In addition to the computer skills outlined above under Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Highly experienced managing Palo Alto, Cisco and other enterprise grade network infrastructure in a multi-office environment; industry certifications preferred.
  • In depth experience managing Microsoft Windows servers, domain services and desktop administration.
  • Microsoft SQL database management, scripting and reporting.
  • Experience with the ongoing care and feeding of a global ERP system.

  • Easily adaptable to changes in processes, procedures, and priorities.
  • Can acquire and maintain the requisite travel authorizations to visit the Czech Republic.
